Old Myths, New Realities features nine Penn sylvanians, ranging in age from seven to ninety, whose comments are used to examine how individuals respond to their own age and how they perceive the process of aging. Producers must now wait until piga are weaned at three weeks to rebreed their sows. Weaning pigs at two days would enable producers to rebreed their sows sooner, resulting in more litters of pigs per year. Menge and animal scientist Lowell T. Frobish conducted experiments at USDA's Agricultural Research Center, Beltsville, MD., in which they fed newborn, cross-bred pigs a variety of diets. “We allowed the pigs to nurse for two days and then fed them cow’s mUk for either one or two days,” Menge said. “After feeding the cow’s milk, we fed the pigs different ratios of a dry starter to cow’s milk, followed by feeding the dry starter alone.” AND FEED BINS Z.
