4-H Club
The Sewing daises of the
Penn Willow'4-H met on July
9 at the Marticville Middle
School. Mrs. Doris Reed, a
buyer for Watt & Shand was
the focus of the meeting.
Mrs. Reed demonstrated
modeling for the girls and
told them what flaws they
had when they modeled.
Mrs. Reed taught modeling
in Philadelphia and New
York for the Powers
Modeling School. She also
talked on modeling in
general.
A new project this year is a
arts and crafts class. While
members are not sewing the
members can create dif
ferent items under the
guidance of Mrs. Kathy
Bucher who is leader of the
project.
Chester Co, 4-H day
winners announced
The Chester County 4-H
Demonstration and Public
Speaking Contest was held
July 2 at the LionviHe
Elementary School. The 4-H
members presented
demonstrations and
speeches on a wide variety of
topics. The contest was
divided into two divisions
junior and senior.
Michael Davis,
Downingtown, won the
junior demonstration
category with a presentation
titled “Carrots for Bugs
Bunny.” He will represent
Chester County in the
regional contest July 15 at
Lansdale.
The top 6 winners in the
senior demonstration
category will represent
Chester County in the state
contest August 11-13 at Penn
State. Winners in the senior
division were: Roberta Ek
dahl, West Chester; Janet
Hutchison, West Grove; Jo
Ann Wyatt, West Grove;
Jonathan and Rachel
Weinstock, Phoenixville;
and Holly Scheib,
Phoenixville. Holly Scheib
also received a $2OO
scholarship from Longwood
Foundation to attend the

ford. They will also compete
in the state contest at Penn
State for State 4-H
Achievement Days in
August.
