There were approximately 75 4-H members participating from eight southeast counties. The York County 4-H FFA’ers attend Natl meeting Frances Marie Bragg, Jonestown and Chester Paul Michael, Jr., Fredricksburg, represented Northern Lebanon High School at the recently held FFA Leadership Conference in Washington D. C. The York County Team consisted of Mike Binder, York; Kim Liebhart, Red Lion; Kris McElwee, Wellsville; and Terry Lehigh, East Berlin. Mike Binder was high in dividual in the contest and he was second in oral reasons. Kim Liebhart was third in oral reasons. Jim and Tom McGreevy of York are the coaches of the York County team. Elimination of Real Estate Taxes House Bill 1061 permits upon petition by a board of school directors or 10 per cent of the electors voting for the school board member with the highest number of votes, the placing on the ballot the question of repealing the levying of real estate taxes and substitute the provisions of the “The Local Tax Enabling Act”. The bill was introduced on behalf of a group of senior citizens and if approved by referendum would eliminate real estate taxes to finance schools.
