Raisin Cookies 2 cups raisins 1 cup boiling water 1 cup shortening 3 eggs 2 cups granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 cup chopped nuts teaspoon soda teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon V* teaspoon nutmeg 5Vi cups flour Add boiling water to raisins and cook five minutes. Cool and cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat till fluffy. Add cooled raisins. Sift flour then measure and add salt, soda, baking GARBER OIL CO. Let rise 15 minutes then shape and dip in soda solution. Sprinkle with salt and bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Sarah Roth presided over the meeting. The 4-H Club Pledge was led by Mary Roth. It was announced that roundup would be held on July 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, Landisville, Pa. Following the business each addition to form a dough like bread. Let rise in warm place until light and doubled in size. Shape into rolls and place in a cake pan. Let rise like bread. Bake at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Combine sugar, flour, salt and egg yolks in remaining milk. Add to boiling milk and cook until thick. Remove from heat adding butter and coconut. Let cool and pour into baked pie shell.
