1 c. granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
Cream butter, sugar and
eggs. Beat well, then add
vanilla. Add flour, baking
powder and soda gradually
alternating with sour cream.
Pour batter into baking
pans. Bake at 350 for 45
minutes.
Lemon Swirl
Frosting
1 package (3 oz.) cream
cheese (softened)
% c. soft butter
4 c. confectioner’s sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 to 3 tsp. grated lemon peel
About 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
Beat all ingredients until
frosting is fluffy and of
spreading consistency. If
necessary, stir in additional
lemon juice, 1 tsp. at a time.
Fills and frosts two 8 or 9
inch layers or frosts a 13 x 9
inch cake.

4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
Melt chocolate over low
heat. Cream butter, add
sugar gradually and cream
well, add eggs one at a time.
Then add melted chocolate,
vanilla, and flour and stir
until batter is same color.
Add nuts. Pour in well
greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake
at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.

Cake
4 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
x k tsp. baking powder
% tsp. salt
1 c. butter
3 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 c. buttermilk
6 egg whites
Creamy Vanilla Filling
(recipe follows)
Orange Butter Frosting
(recipe follows)
Sift together cake flour,
baking soda, baking powder’
and salt. Cream together
butter and sugar until light
and fluffy. Beat in vanilla.
Add dry ingredients alter
nately with buttermilk,
beating well after each
addition. Add egg whites;
beat at medium speed 2
minutes. Pour batter into 3
waxed-paper lined 9” round
cake pans. Bake in 350
degree oven 20 minutes;
reduce heat to 325 degrees

and bake 25 minutes more or
until cakes test done. Cool in
pans on rack 10 minutes.
Remove from pans; cool on
racks.
Spread the top of one layer
with half of Creamy Vanilla
Filling. Place second layer
on top. Spread with
remaining half of filling. Top
with third layer. Frost sides
and top of cake with Orange
Butter Frosting.
Creamy Vanilla
Filling
Prepare 1 (3V4 oz. package
vanilla pudding and pie
filling according to package
directions for pie filling. Cool
well.
Orange Butter
Frosting
Combine 5 cups sifted
confectioners’ sugar, cup
soft butter, V« teaspoon
almond extract and 2 to 3
tablespoons orange juice.
Beat until smooth.

Strawberry Ice Cream
Recipe for 4 qt. freezer
makes 3 to 4 quarts
1 qt. whole milk plus 1 cup
2 eggs (well beaten)
2 cups sugar
% cups cornstarch
1 cup sweet cream
2 tsp. vanilla
1 pt. fresh or
strawberries
(sweetened)
Heat - Ilk "
.jeat ixiiL (1 qt). Mix in a
bowl, cornstarch and sugar.
Add 1 cup milk stir until
smooth. Add beaten eggs.
Stir into heated milk stirring
constantly until pudding
begins to boil. Boil 1 minute.
Remove from heat - cool.
When cool add cream,
vanilla, strawberries. Place
in home freezer and freeze.
