government, and dairy
judging. His crowning
achievement was being
named as the outstanding
senior in Dairy for 1975.
His leadership ability, is
demonstrated by the fact
that he has served as
President and Dairy Ex
position Manager of the
Dairy Science Club,
President and Academic
Assembly Representative of
the College of Agriculture
Student Council, President of
the honorary Coaly Society,
and chairman of two im
portant fraternity com
mittees.
A member of the Penn
State Dairy Judging team in
1974 after two years as
alternate, John was quite
successful in each of the
contests entered. At the
National Intercollegiate
Contest last fall the team
was 10th overall and John
led the way as 3rd High
Individual in the contest. He
also placed well in several of
the individual breeds. His
showing was equally im
pressive at the Eastern
States Exposition and the
Pennsylvania All-American
contests.
Certainly it is clear that
John brings to the Penn
sylvania Holstein
Association quite a
background in dairy and
Holstein affairs, plus a broad
range of experience in other
areas of interest. His
abilities will now be directed
to the programs and services
offered to Holstein breeders
in Pennsylvania by the
Pennsylvania Holstein
Association.
John Howard is suc
ceeding as Director of
Promotion Jay Howes, who
plans to start a Holstein herd
