The group waa led in singing “Brighten the Comer” by song leader, Mrs. Clayton Schmehl. Mrs. Kauffman read scripture, followed by the Lord’s Prayer and flag salute. Mrs. Wilbur Hershey, president conducted the business meeting and also installed a new member, Mrs. Carl Miller. Seventeen members answered roll call question “For a nice evening of fun, what do you and your husband like to do?” Mrs. Quentin Gettel read the minutes and the treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Clarence Klahr. Mrs. Carl Seiverling, Mrs. Eugene Keeney, Mrs. Wilbur Her shey, and Mrs. Helen Ebling helped at Berks Heim Open House. Mrs. Earl Ebling reported there are some candles available for purchase to anyone interested. Mrs. Woodrow Weber reported the box of needy items, plus a Jacket were delivered to people of the community who recently suffered from fires. Mrs. Earl Ebling reported on county board meeting and related to the group the county convention will be held at the Kutztown Grange Hall on October 4, 1975. Mrs. Carl Seiverling, Mrs. Kenneth Donkel, Mrs. Carl Miller, and Mrs. Clarence Klahr will serve as registration committee. Mrs. Harvey Zimmerman and Mrs. Eugene Stump are serving on our group’s nominating committee for the coming year. The family picnic will be on the Wilbur Hershey farm on September 14, 1975. There was a discussion of a trip to Atlantic City, no date was set. Another issue brought before the group was the idea of a family Thanksgiving meal instead of the Christmas meal. The meeting was highlighted as the bridal squeeze with the women bringing their wedding gowns or pictures of them and revealing how they met their huabanda and recalling their wedding daya. Pastor Larry Haaaler of Salem Lutheran and Altalaha churches apoke to the women on "Chriatian Marriage*’’. Next meeting will be held with Mra. Society 5 The monthly meeting of Farm Women 5 was held June 23,1975, at Tulpehocken Manor, Myerstown, Pa. with 12 members and 5 guests attending, following a very interesting and informative tour through the historical homestead. Awards were given to the outstanding student in Agriculture and home economics at Tulpehocken High School’s graduation, the recipients .were Steve Bellman and Brenda Miller. It was decided to con tribute $50.00 to the Berks County Farm Women project of purchasing equipment for Hamburg attention mini tractor fans; Wednesday July 9th National Mini Tractor Class A NTPA Pull 1500 & 1700 lbs. Plans for the chicken Bar B Q sale were finalized which will be held on July 26 at the intersection of routes 422 and 419. A new member, Sandra Rauenzahn, was installed and welcomed into the group. Secretary Society 27 Society of Farm Women 27 met June 24, at 6:45 p.m. for an evening candelight tour of Donegal Mills Plantation. Our gracious hostess Mrs. Franklin B. Zink gave many interesting facts of the life and people who lived and worked at the plantation in the 18th and 19th century. The restored plantation consists of the 18th century mansion houSfe, bake house, crafts & gift shop, early mill, plus other farm buildings and activities.
