Easy Oatmeal Bread
s 4 cup boiling water
'a cup oatmeal
3 tablespoons soft shortening
cup molasses
2 teaspoons salt
l 4 cup warm water
1 package yeast
1 egg
2K cups flour
Stir together in a large
mixer bowl, boiling water,
oatmeal, shortening,
molasses and salt. Cool.
Dissolve yeast in warm
water. Add yeast, eggs and
half the flour to above
mixture. Beat two minutes in
mixer or 300 vigorous
strokes by hand. Add
remaining flour and blend in
with spoon until smooth.
Spread batter evenly in
greased loaf pan. Batter will
be sticky. Let rise in warm
place I l * hours. Bake 375
degrees for 50-55 minutes.

3 tablespoons water
Boil for 30 minutes, strain
and place in glasses.

1 cup butter 1 teaspoon baking soda
3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt
1 cup ground sunflower seeds 2 teaspoons cinnamon
I cup sweet or sour milk Ms teaspoon ground cloves
M> teaspoon salt 4 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla cup sugar
2M> cups brown sugar cup light molasses
5Mj cups white wheat flour 1 egg .

in refrigerator over night.
Turn out on floured board
and roll as thin as possible.
Cut in squares on cookie
sheet. Bake at 350 degrees
until crisp and golden brown.
Sprinkle with cinnamon.

's cup butterscotch pieces
Mix and sift flour, baking
soda, salt and spices. Cream
together shortening, sugar
and molasses. Beat in egg.
Blend in dry ingredients and
applesauce. Stir in but*
lerstoch pieces and nuts.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto
lightly greased baking
sheets. Bake at 350 degrees
to 10-12 minutes. Makes
about 4's dozen cookies.
