In the evening, we could

just before bedtime. Or if we
were lucky, an invitation to
go with a great aunt to Lititz
to see the fireworks. One of
my earliest memories is
sitting on a blanket on the
hillside and seeing and
hearing that magnificent
display of brilliant light and
cannon-like sound.
Philip has gone to 4-H
Leadership Congress at
Penn State for four days. We
miss him but he is probably
too busy to miss us although
it is his first trip to
University Park alone. He
hopes to contact his big
brother who is going to
graduate school there.
His return will really be
welcomed by Cindy as she
feels tending his pigs, calves
and heifers plus her own is
simply too much of a job.
This is just the first of
gradually letting him go out
on his own.

Sometimes one can go
years without seeing the
inside of a lawyer’s office
and then again it seems as
though there is constant need
for advice. Since my father’s
death there have been many
trips to Lancaster.
The same is true for
doctor’s offices. Months go
by (lucky us) and we don’t
need their services. But
recently both my daughter
and my husband have had to
get their fingers and ear
stitched. We can always say
“It could have been worse.’’
