Cowtown Calves Steal Show

have theirs and Saturday
night at the Cowtown Rodeo
the calves had the In I The
audience seemed to be
cheering more for the calves
than for the cowboys as the
boys missed sii in a row. It
looked for a while as if the
calves had it made, but a few
of the cowboys did succeed
however and Bob Roberto of
Haskell, N.J. took home
$197.96 for roping and tieing
his calf in 14 Seconds flat.
The steers were almost as
stubborn, with Walt Keever,
Sussex, N.J. making the best
time in 5.6 seconds for
$260.68. That's making over
$4.50 per second.
The girls barrel race was
won by Diane Sleeter for
$154.84. Diane deftly glided
her horse around the 3 clover
leaf barrels in 17.91 Seconds.

Top marking in Bare Back
Bronc riding was a 64, made
by Wally Groff, Ft. Worth.
Texas, at $182.28.
Wyatt Crotta, Bethany,
Conn, made a mark of 67 and
received $127.40 for his 8
seconds work in the Saddle
Bronc Riding event. The
cornerstone of all rodeo
events, it is also considered
one of the most dangerous.
Mike Dolan, injured when he
was thrown from a Bronc
named Mr. Moore was
treated at the Salem County
Memorial Hospital and
released.
Grant Harris of Cowtown,
rode a Brahma bull named
Groovy Rock, marking 59
and winning $245.00.
