Adams County Selects 1975 Dairy Princess by: Sally Bair Feature Writer Karen Slagle, Gettysburg, RD 5, was crowned 1975 Adams County Dairy Princess at festivities at the Biglerville High School Saturday night before an audience of nearly 300. Seventeen-year-old Karen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Slagle, Jr. Ayrshire breeders. She is a 1975 graduate of New Oxford High School and is active in 4-H activities in the county. First runner-up in the contest was Elaine Keller, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Solanco Auxiliary Meets Members of the Solanco Auxiliary to the United Auxiliaries of the Lancaster General Hospital attended the annual luncheon of the combined auxiliaries at the Lancaster General Hospital on Tuesday, June 10th. Other contestants were Diane Clowney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Clowney, Gettysburg RDI, and Ellen Keller, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Clarence Keller, Gettysburg, RD 4. Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Debra Miller participated in the program and provided some musical Millie Warfel, Sadie Greenleaf, Dottie Stauffer and immediate past president, Donna Ellenberg. She assisted in the coronation of the new queen. Outgoing Princess Elaine Klinger told about her ap pearances throughout the year on behalf of the dairy industry. A Shippensburg State College sophomore, she spent one week of her spring vacation talking with children in kindergarten, first, second and third grades. She told about dairy, how to feed and milk a cow and the Importance of in cluding dairy products in the diet. A slide presentation showing milking activities at her farm helped illustrate her talk. According to Elaine, she spoke to nearly 1540 children. Another feature of the Adams County Dairy Month celebration is daily 30- second promotion spots broadcast on the radio. The spots are jointly sponsored by the Adams County Holstein Association and local dairymen, and are presented by the Dairy Princess.
