Thoughts On Order 4
Expansion
I would like to take a little
time to thank all my fellow
dairymen who voted to
extend Order 4. Isn’t it
wonderful how the voting
was carried out? Many
didn’t get a chance. There
was the wonderful bloc vote.
But of course, why should
you vote. Let one fellow vote
for you. When you go to the
polls, I’m sure you just pull
the party lever. Never vote
for the men. If you do, you
Just might get a little better
government.
Yes, we now are equal.
You brought me down to
your level. You brought
many of us down to your
level. Why? You were very
welcome to come up to our
level.
As an example: Dear Lehi,
the fanners’ dairy, said they
couldn’t make money on
door-to-door deliveries.
That’s okay. The dairy I ship
to, who, by the way is in
dependent, picked up many
home delivery customers.
Last month they paid me
$9.20 on a 3.5-percent blend,
less 20-cents for hauling. Will
Order 4 pay more? This I
have to see.
Our dealer took one co-op’s
loss and, with a little Yankee
-
ingenuity, made it his and
our gain. So you see, it is only
through good marketing that
we can receive fair prices.
If I were to ask any of you
farmers who voted for the
expansion what you want out
of life, what would you say?
What you said you wanted
with your vote was: Give us
more and extended govern
ment controls. Didn’t you
learn? You’re a puppet.
Your government is a
consumer bureau now. You
proved you were operating
at a loss and what did you
get? To the best of my
knowledge, the government
favored the consumers in
stead of the dairy farmers.
Why feed the dog that bites
you?
Now for promotion. Great!
Let’s really sell because
"Milk is a Natural”. Oh, how
I love that advertisement. It
sort of makes me want to
drink my coffee black. Come
on folks, for all that money
can’t we do just a little
better?
Last but not least, it sure is
great to be part of your fine
group now. I just wish that
fine group of fellows who
runs this fine show would
send all us newcomers in-
formation as to what our
milk bases are. I just can’t

Meet
The Lancaster County
Holstein Association board
of directors met June 6th at
the Farm and Home Center,
Among the business
discussed were the following
topics which all members
should please note.
Lancaster County is still in
need of advertisements for
the State Convention
Booklet. Any breeder who
has not taken an ad, but
would like to, should contact
Robert H. Kauffman as soon
as possible.
Deadline for show entries
for this year’s County
Holstein Show will be July 1.
Also this year, Jack Rem
sberg will be at the Guernsey
Barn on July 30, the day
before the show. Any
wait for the end of July to
find out.
In closing I would want to
thank all you good dairy
fanners for taking us a few
independents aboard your
ship. Even if it is sinking.
You know, the greatest
thing about this is we are
now bearing one another’s
burdens, aren’t we?
I’m proud to be going up
the creek with such a fine
bunch of genetlemen.

Loren Zimmerman within
the next two weeks.
The tour committee
reported that there will be
two tours coming to the
county during August. On
August 4th or sth there will
be a group of 38 breeders
from Lewis County, New
York. And on August 19th
there will be between 35 and
40 arriving from South
Africa. Anyone who would
like to entertain a couple
from one or both of these
tours for an evening, should
contact Elam Bollinger.
Due to the resignation of
Clarence Stauffer as State
Director from Lancaster
County, the board of
directors elected Robert H.
Kauffman to fill that
position.
More news pertaining to
the County Holstein
Association will be included
in the newsletter which will
be going out to all members
in the next few weeks.
