Saturday, June 7,1975 Home Ec Leaders Meet Lancaster County 4-H Home Economics Club Leaders met for a Leader Training Seminar at the Farm and Home Center on June 3, 1975. The seminar was conducted by Mrs. Doris Thomas, Extension Home Economist, Miss Anne Hinkle, Assistant Home Economist, and Mrs. Linda Franz and Miss Debra Gregory, 4-H Summer Assistants. 4-H projects in the areas of foods and clothing were displayed for all the leaders. Changes and variations in some projects were an nounced. Some new han dicraft projects were in troduced. These include crocheting, knitting, macrame, and designing with line and texture. Leaders were able to share ideas and experiences of things that worked well in their clubs, and new projects 4-H’ers were interested in. Upcoming 4-H events were announced and discussed. Blue Forms are due in the Extension office on June 13, 1975. The 4-H Consumerama Dauphin Dairy Princess Contest Set for June The Dauphin County Dairy Princess Contest will be held June 20 7:30 p.m. at the Colonial Park Mall, Colonial Park, Pa. The contest will be held on the Lower Level of Pomeroy’s Store. Six contestants have registered for the com petition which will be hosted XXX Farm Machinery is Dangerous During the rush of spring farming, operators of farm machinery are tempted time and again to give children a ride on the tractor or other farm machinery. But don’t even though it may cause them to be unhappy for a short time. Such machinery is too dangerous for small children to play around or ride on. Extension agricultural engineers at The Penn- Judging Team Is being formed which will compete in 4-H State Days and leaders should encourage interested members to participate. On July 1,1975 is County 4-H Demonstration and Public Speaking Con test. The Regional Demonstration Contest is July 11. Lancaster County 4-H Dress Revue Is set for July 29 with Regional competition July 31. The State Dress Revue has been moved to coincide with 4-H State Days August 11-13 at Penn State University. Another activity arranged for the older clothing project members is a “Textile Trip” to Philadelphia. More details will follow later. All leaders were en couraged to have their 4-H members participate in 4-H Achievement Day on August 21, 1975 at the Farm and Home Center.
