Involved are two consignment sales and the State Holstein Show on April 17,18, and 19. All events are scheduled for the Farm Show Building in Harrisburg. The schedule is as follows: Thursday, April 17 - Pa. State Calf Sale; Friday, April 18 - Pa. State Cow Si Bred Heifer Sale; Saturday, April 19 - Pa. State Holstein Show. The Calf Sale is an annual event with 200 head of Registered Holstein calves under one year old to be sold at auction. A new sales series starts in 1975 with the Cow & Bred Heifer Sale. It is anticipated that nearly 200 head will be consigned by breeders of Registered Holsteins in Pennsylvania. In addition to the females, plans also call for the sale of 10-12 Holstein bulls on Friday. Both sales are managed by the Pennsylvania Holstein Association. Hired as auc tioneers are the R. Austin Backus, Inc. sales organization, Mexico, NY and A. Doty Remsburg, Jefferson, MD. Also an annual event is the State Holstein Show. Past experience indicates that 325-350 head will be paraded before the judge, Richard Brooks, well-known breeder of Paclamar Farms in Colorado. Always one of the largest and highest quality State Shows, the 1975 Pa. State Show should be one of the best ever. Anticipation is growing among breeders across Pennsylvania as these events get closer. Also, it is known that people from all over the U.S. look forward each year to this big Holstein event. Indicative of this is the fact that in past years nearly 75 percent of the consignments to the Calf Sale were purchased by out of-state buyers. With over 700 of top Registered Holsteins, an easily accessable location in Harrisburg, and the organization of five Holstein staff members and 5100 members, everything points toward a successful event. It should be enjoyable and profitable for ail consignors, buyers, exhibitors, and spectators Further details may be obtained from the Penn sylvama Holstein.
