speak March 23. will discuss
the growth of buying clubs
and the movement toward
tarmcr - consumer
cooperatives.
"The public is beginning to
realize that the high prices
they pay today in the
supermarkets have not been
prompted by rising farm
prices," said MeHale. "In
fact, farm prices have been
dropping, without
corresponding decreases in
retail prices.”
MeHale asserted that
"more and more farmers
and consumers are making
an attempt to meet each
other at the marketplace to
eliminate the fat in the
middle that has blocked
farmers from getting a fair
price and never given the
consumer an even break.”
