Herb Schick Kutztown R 2, exhibited both the grand champion and reserve champion animals during the event. Schick’s champion was a crossbred barrow which weighed in at 220 pounds and scored with .9 inches of backfat, 31.1 inches in length and recorded at 6.11 inch sqaure loin with 33.7 percent of hamloin per centage. The reserve champion animal was also a cross bred barrow which weighed in at 195 pounds. Lancaster Contest Pork producers in Lan caster County also held their carcass contest at the same time with the Grand champion animal being shown by Marc Nestleroth, Manheim. Nestleroth’s animal, which was a crossbred gilt, weighed in at 202 pounds and recorded .9 inches of back fat, 29.3 inches in length and scored 4.77 inches of loin with 34.9 percent of ham - loin percentage. John Strawbridge’s gilt placed second in the com petition. Eighteen exhibitors from Lancaster County participated in the event.
