"bulls”. Kindly tell me the
difference between
"bullocks” and "steers".
In our dictionary, a bullock
is defined as a castrated bull,

Our dictionary defines a
bullock two ways, either as a
castrated animal of any age,
or a young bull. So, a bullock
can be the same as a steer,
but it is not always thus. We
checked with Jim Anderson,
with the USDA’s Market
Reporting Service at the
Parke challenged com
mittee chairmen to develop
new ideas to better serve
members of the association.

Liked the Poem
I want to tell you how we
enjoyed the poem “Newborn
Bull Calf” in the March 1
issue. I read it to my sons at
breakfast this morning and
we laughed and laughed till
we couldn’t see anymore.
You may keep up the
“Readers Comer” as far as
we are concerned.
I’m a dairyman’s wife and
know all about teaching
calves to drink from a
bucket, and the poem was all
so true. I’m sure the calves
are lucky if the farmer’s wife
teaches them to drink,
because she usually has
more patience.
