Society 12
Farm Women Society 12
met recently, at the home of
Mrs. Mildred Kindig. Mrs.
Eleanor Lawnbery had the
devotions.
Roll call was answered by
making a valentine and
presenting it to a member.
Fifteen members were
present.
The program was craft
project directed by Mrs.
Donna Henry. The next
meeting will be held at the
home of Mrs. Ruth Brinton,
Hopkins Mill Rd., on March
15.

Farm Women Society 15
met on Feb. 21 at the Union
Presbyterian Church.
Hostesses were Mary
McLaughlin and Kathleen
Groff. The meeting was
called to order by the
president Kathryn Horner
with singing of the Society’s
song. Devotions were lead by
Sadie Greenleaf with
scripture meditation and
prayer. Members responded
to roll call by giving a fact or
saying of Abraham Lincoln.
Minutes were read by the
secretary Elma Maule and
the treasurer’s report was
given by Mary Howett.
The Society will provide
food stands at two upcoming
sales the John Hastings sale
on March 8 and the Warren
Smith sale on March 27.
Mary Boyce of the Sun
shine Committee reported
that cards and flowers had
been sent to Erma Witmer, a
member who is a patient at
the Lancaster General
Hospital and Mary Wrigley a
patient at the Community
Memorial Hospital.
Kathryn Wagner chair
man of the trip committee
reported that plans are being
made for a bus trip to New
Orleans in June.
A by-laws quiz was con
ducted by Mildred Smith
with a history of the Union
Presbyterian Chirch being
given by Lily Wilde.

aerosol bottle caps for the
Volunteer Service Bureau.

pads and mending for Bailys
Nursing Home Inc. of
Elizabethtown, were com
pleted.
Devotions with thoughts on
sharing were given by Mrs.
Luke Brubaker.
Mrs. Robert Dunkelberger

visit at Conestoga View on
February 20.

families plan to visit Teen
Challenge March 14.

Due to inclement weather
the February meeting of the
Berks Co. Society of Farm
Women 1 was held February
19, at the home of Emma
McLean. After the meeting
was called to order, the
hostess read Psalm 66,
followed by The Lords
Prayer and the flag salute.
Eighteen members an
swered the roll call. A thank
you card was received from

March 10, then on to In

Inn for a smorgasbord
supper.
The Spring Rally will be
held at The Hershey Con
vention Center instead of the
Hershey Motor Lodge.
A donation of twenty-five
dollars was made to the
American Cancer Society.
The next meeting will be
held March 19 at the home of
the president, Agnes Noli A
film of breast cancer was
shown after the meeting was
adjourned. Refreshments
were served by the hostess.

The February meeting of
Farm Women Society 2 was
held in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Wilber Hershey with
Mrs. Hershey presiding for
the business. The meeting
was opened with scripture
reading, followed by the
Lords prayer and flag salute.
Mrs. Quentin A. Gettel read
the minutes and Mrs.
Clarence Klahr gave the
treasurer’s report. Eighteen
members answered the roll,
call question . . . Recall a
good deed done for you. The
attending members folded
450 cancer dressings and
sewed 50 bed pads.

Berks Heim is April 3, at 7:00

mittee decided to have a
bake sale, date and place
given at a later date.
Another fund raising project
was discussed. A new
mattress was purchased for
the group’s hospital bed.

the night of entertainment at
Womelsdorf shall meet at
the Tulpehocken elementary
school at 7:00 p.m. March 18.

Night is April 12 at the Jolly
Molly in Newmanstown.
Plans were made for a bus
trip to the William Penn
Museum at Harrisburg on
April 27. Mrs. Harnish was
surprised with cake and ice

celebrate her 25th wedding
anniversary.
