Farm Women Societies Society 2 The Farm Women Society No. 2 members and their families enjoyed a covered dish supper for their Christmas Party. The event was held at the Master sonville Fire Hall on December 14th at 6 p.m. A brief business meeting was held with president Elsie Witmer presiding. Twenty-one plates of fruit were distributed during that week. The group packed two boxes for groceries for two families in the area. Grace Miller was installed as vice president for the next two years. Santa Claus visited the group and handed out oranges and presents to everyone. Dillerville Rd., Lancaster Phone 717-397-4954 Shirk Gives Talk on Corn Hybrids Twin Valley Young-Adult Farmers met on Dec. 16,1974 in the vocational agriculture classroom of the Twin Valley High School. Eighteen members attended. Glenn A. Shirk, Chester County Agricultural Agent, presented a program on corn hybrids. The corn hybrid per formance results from the Penn State Extension Plot near Honey Brook were announced and the 63 hybrids were compared in yield, standability, and resistance to disease. Shirk explained how to use this new information in relation to past corn sum maries when selecting ting hybrids. He also emphasized the im portance of a good liming and fertilization program and gave some guidelines to follow when planning for next year’s corn crop. Predictions for the 1975 com season were discussed and some possible return - ex pense situations were analyzed. The groups planning committee will hold the next educational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 21.
