Market Hog Show
Out of five weight classes
in junior market hog com
petition on Thursday at the
Farm Show, Lancaster
County youths captured four
first place titles and the
overall grand championship.
The reserve grand prize
eluded the local hog men
though, going to Donna
Lazarus of Lehigh County,
who took the reserve ribbon
with her first place entry in
the 214-222-lb. category.

James Felpel is 18 years
old and a senior at Ephrata
High School. When Jim was
in ninth grade he built a
small barn to house steers
and hogs that he carries as
projects in addition to his
work experience program to
leam agriculture con
struction. Jim has helped in
his father’s construction
business, constructing
milking parlors, feedlot

Two long-time employees
of Sperry New Holland have
retired effective this month.
Lester S. Steffy, 62, of 401
E Main St., New Holland,
has retired as a tool designer
after more than 31 years
with the company
Steffy started working
with Sperry New„Holland in
1943 as a drill press operator.
John G. Weber, 65, of
Bowmansville, has retired
from the Inspection
Department where he
worked as an inspector “B”.
He had been with the com
pany since 1946. __ _

his local chapter, was on the
State Small Gas Engine
team, which placed 3rd at
Springfield, Massachusetts,
and a member of the State
FFA Meat Judging team at
the National Convention in
