Richard Dietrich is the 18
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.

Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, a
member of the varsity
basketball team and is a
member of the national
honor society and the
National Guard.

I started Ag with a sweet
com project in 9th grade. In
10th grade I raised 1 acre of
sweet com and working for
experience at my fathers
garage where I work on farm
equipment, trucks and cars.
I continued both projects in

11th grade but increased
their size. In 10th grade I was
a county delegate for FFA
week at Penn State. In 11th
grade I competed in the state
FFA Ag mechanics contest
and won third place. I have
won county and state project
book contest three times. In
my senior year I attended
the national convention and
competed in the national Ag
mechanics contest and won a
bronze emblem. I served as
chapter president in 12th, I
also serve as county chaplin.
Upon graduation I will go
into business with my father
and brother in our garage.

Shane spent most of his
high school days working for
experience on a dairy farm.
He then went to Sunny
Slopes’ Livestock farm.
Shane continued working
for Sunny Slopes’ farm
after graduation and was
promoted to Farm Manager
in September 1974.
Shane was active in many
areas of FFA activities in
cluding livestock judging,
Ch. Recreation,
Parliamentary procedure
team, Chapter Treasurer
and Student Advisor.
In 9th grade I started my
FFA Projects with a
registered Holstein Heifer. I

Dairy Show in Harrisburg
and did very well.
The next year I added
another cow to carry a Dairy
head project. I also par
ticipated on our schools
Dairy Judging team at the
Summer FFA Convention at
Penn State University. I
received a silver emblem for
placing 26th.
I presently own three
Holstein milking cows, two
dairy heifers, and four beef
animals. I also raised two
acre of Field Corn.
After graduation I will
increase my dairy heard and
field Com acreage.
I will work with my father
and uncles on our Marsh

Jeffrey Austin-son of Mr. &

stown, Pa., will be receiving
the Keystone Farmer Award
in January 1975.
Jeff has been very active
in the FFA. The activities
have been going to
Harrisburg and Penn State
for 3 years to participate in
the State FFA, Band. In the
chapter he has been
chairmen of several projects
including Supervised Far
ming, Vegetable Seed Sales,
and Budget. This year he is
chaplin for his chapter.

Jeff has also been active in
school with the Marching
Band, and Stage Band. He is
also involved in Indoor
Track and Spring Track.
Jeff’s Project Program
has been built around
Horticulture. He worked
with his father in the family
green-house raising bedding
plants and buying and selling
vegetable plants and many
different flowers. He also
worked for experience with
Prizer’s green-house and is
presently working for
Samuel B. Schaapt, doing
many Landscaping jobs.
Jeff is hoping to further his
education by attending the
Longwood Garden’s 2 year
Professional Training
Program in Horticulture

John Brown, a senior at
Tulpehocken Area Schools
is the son of Mr. and Mrs'
