David’s plans for the
future are to go into part
nership with his dad and
brother in dairy farming.
John C. Zander
John C. Zander, 17, is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Carl
Zander RDI, Kirkwood and a
John Zander
Solanco
senior at Solanco High
School.
He was Co-chairman of the
chapter pheasant raising
program this past year. He is
a member of the Solanco
Dairy Club and the Junior
Holstein Association.
John presently owns 35
head of Dorset breeding
sheep, and several dairy
heifers. Past projects have
been fattening hogs, crops
and veal calves.
He plans to remain in
farming after graduation
this spring.
Jeffrey N.Glackln
Jeffrey N. Glackin, age 17,
son of Joann L. Glackin and
John G. Glackin, RD3,
Quarryville is a senior at
Solanco High School.
He is presently serving as
president of the Solanco FF A
chapter, and also is serving
as recording secretary of the
Red Rose County FFA
chapter. Jeff has par
ticipated in the National
Jeff Glackin
Solanco
Land judging contest, and
several state and local
judging contests.
His project program
consists of hog production
and a farm work experience
program. He is employed on
the dairy farm of Paul D.
Trimble, Peach Bottom
RD2.
Jeff is a member of the
High School Basketball team
and attends Calvary In
dependent Church of
Mechanics Grove.
David J. Gerhart
David J. Gerhart, 17, New
Providence RDI, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lester R. Gerhart,
David Gerhart
Solanco
is a senior at Solanmco
Senior High School.
He has participated at
State FFA Week, County
Small Gasoline Engine and
Soil Judging Contests. He
also went to the National
FFA Convention in Kansas
City this past year and has
shown dairy animals at the
District and State FFA
shows.
His project program
consists of six Guernsey
animals, 2 l k acres of corn,
and IVi acres of alfalfa hay.
The home farm consists of
105 acres plus 50 acres of
rented land with 33 Holstein
milk cows.
He attends Saint
Catherines Church of Siena,
and plans to enter farming
after graduation.
Lloyd Hoover
Lloyd Hoover, 17, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer M.
Hoover of 30 Hoover Lane,
Leola is a senior at Garden
Spot High School and is
presently serving as
Lloyd Hoover
Garden Spot
President of the Grassland
FFA chapter. He has been
involved with many of the
chapter activities and has
served on numerous com
mittees over the past years.

Lloyd’s projects include 16
purebred Duroc sows, 60
veal calves, 20 fattening
hogs, and 2 acres of com
annually.
Lloyd has received much
recognition for his ac
complishments recently by
being named Lancaster
County Star Farmer as well
as Poultry Man of the Year.
This past summer he was
selected to attend the PAFC
Institute in Shippensburg
State college where he was
named one of the top 10
scholars in the state which
enabled him to represent the
state at AIC Institute at
Manhattan, Kansas. He
received awards in publip
speaking and was a member
of the 1973 State
Parliamentary Procedure
Team Champion. He was
the 1972 Lancaster County
SCS Land Judging Cham
pion. He has received many
showmanship awards for
showing his hogs and had the
Grand Champion at the 1974
Ephrata Fair. He has also
been awarded several Gold
Medal awards for his
records in record Book
Competition.
Lloyd is active in several
organizations outside of the
FFA. He is a member of the
Carpenters Mcnnonite
Church and has served as
Vice-President of the church
Youth Group for the past two
years and is President-elect
for 1975. He is also a member
of the Lancaster County
Swine Producers
Association; Pennsylvania
Duroc Breeders Association;
United Duroc Breeders
Association; ' and the
National Honor Society at
Garden Spot High School.
Clair Martin
Clair Martin is the 17 year
old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer E. Martin of RDI New
Holland. Clair is a senior at
Garden Spot High School and
is currently serving as
Treasurer of the Grassland
FFA. This fall he attended
Garden Spot
the National FFA Con
vention held at Kansas City,
Mo. He was a delegate to the
PAFC. In 1973, Clair served
as Treasurer on the State
winning Parliamentary
Procedure Team. He has
been active in many local
activities and contests. His
projects through the years
have been in raising veal
calves, and fattening hogs.
He also raised a Purebred
Holstein heifer which he
showed at several dairy
shows. He is presently
