Many of us are likely
finished with the annual
chore of putting on snow
tires. North American
farmers annually buy more
than 400 million pounds of
rubber in various products,
according to Sperry New
Holland, a major farm
machinery manufacturer
which uses such a raw
material in its products.
That’s enough rubber to put
tires on nearly 8 million
automobiles.
