Society 1
The Society of Farm
Women 1 donated $lO to the
Needlework Guild at its
meeting on Nov. 9, They will
also provide gifts for the
Lancaster Association of
Retarded persons at their
next meeting.
Mrs. Paul Kurtz,
president, presided at the
business meeting.
Mrs. Graybill Hollinger,
gave the devotions. Roll call
was answered by each of the
18 members giving the name
of their favorite fall flower.
Mrs. Willis Bucher
presented a workshop
demonstration on
decorations.
During the meeting it was
announced that dues have
been increased from $1.50 to
$2.00 and are now payable to
Mrs. Franklin Weber,
treasurer.
It was also announced that
a bus will be leaving the
Ephrata Shopping Center at
7:30 a.m. for the Cherry Hill,
N.J. Shopping Center. They
will return at 7 p.m.
Mrs. John Newcomer,
chairman of the Sunshine
committee, presented Mrs.
Kurtz, outgoing society
president, with an engraved
silver tray.
A Christmas gift exchange
will highlight the December
7 meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. Scott Carman,
Lititz RD3. Mrs. Martin
Hess will present tne
devotions.
Society 14
Farm Women Society 14
held their November
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Don Fry. During the
meeting, the group voted to
give $25.00 to Christ Home,
Paradise. The president,
Mrs. John Groff, reminded
the group of the State Con
vention at Harrisburg on
January 6,7, 1975. The
banquet will be held at the
Penn Harris Motor Inn. The
state president asked for
names of members 90 years
and older. Our group has
two: Mrs. Alice M. Shaubach
and Mrs. Elizabeth Mylin.
Each member showed and
explained about a cherished
possession as the program
for the day. Mrs. taon
Thomas gave the story ot the
Advent Wreath. The
hostesses were Mrs. Charles
Leaman, Mrs. Christ Landis
and Mrs. Murl Clark.
The December meeting
will be the annual Christmas
Banquet held at Historic
Strasburg at 6:30 on
December 11. A musical
program will be presented
by the Pequea Valley
Woodwind Ensemble
directed by Mr. John
Koshuta and the Pequea
Valley Chamber Singers
directed by Mr. Peter
Jarjisian.

Farm Women Society 3
met Saturday, November
11th at the Akron Fire
Company Hall, Mrs. Ken
neth Zimmerman was
hostess.
Reports that were given
included: the Farm Women
Convention held on Nov. 2nd
by Mrs. Gilbert Paul; the
tour of Nashville Tcnn., by
Mrs. Donald Grayblll and
the homemaker’s day by
Mrs. Earl Miller.
$5O was contributed to the
United Way.
Doris Hash, a patient at
Hamburg State Hospital who
is the “adopted daughter of
the Society” will be
receiving gifts for her room
by the members and snacks
will be provided for the other
guests.
Delegates to the State
Convention will be Mrs.
Walter Shaub. Mrs. William
Eberly and Mrs. Melvin
Nolt. Mrs. Melvin Nolt will
be modeling a gown at the
convention.
Speaker-was Mrs. Nancy
Fenstermacker from Camp
Hill who has been associated
with Teen Challenge and is a
representative of Women’s
Aglow Association.
The next meeting on Dec.
21st. will be the Christmas
party for members and
children at the home of Mrs.
Robert Gregory, Lititz.

met Monday night at the
home of Mrs. Robert
Kauffman with vice
president, Mrs. Robert
Wenger, presiding. The state
convention will be held at the
Penn Harris in Harrisburg
Jan. 6-7.

The program for the
evening was crafts with the
members making angels for
Christmas. The next meeting
will be the Christmas party
at the home of Mrs. David
Delong.
Society 6
The Society of Farm
Women, Group No. 6, met on
Monday, November 18 at 8
p.m. in the home of Mrs.
David Bauer, Oley RDI,
Pa. Twenty members were
present.
As a second project, we
decided to entertain the
patients at the Ide Con
valescent Home, In Bird
sboro. A committee was
appointed, but all members
will participate. We will
favor them with Christmas
Carols and gifts. These plans
are not all definite. One of
two dates will be chosen;
Sunday, December 15th or
Tuesday December 17;
depending on the approval of
the home.
A get well card was sent to
Robert Hartz, son of our
president, who is in the St.
Joseph’s Hospital. A gift will
be purchased also.
For our program we had
Mrs. Jan Hoffman of
Fleetwood RDI who gave us
an interesting demonstration
on candle making. She
showed us her already made
candles and encouraged us
to try to make some too in
the near future.
The dinner menu was
planned for our coming
Christmas Party which will
be held, Friday, December
6th, at 7:30 p.m. in the
Village Diner, Douglassville.
This will also be our meeting
for December.
Society 22
A Craft Workshop was held
at the meeting of Farm
Women Society 22 on
November 12 in the home of
Mrs. Carl Diller. Spice
baskets, Christmas
decorations and kitchen
accessories were made and
along with homemade food
items will be sold at the
Christmas Homemaking
Meeting at the Farm and
Home Center Thursday,
November 14.
The next meeting will be
held December 10 when the
society will sing Christmas
Carols and distribute cookies
at various homes in the
community. They will return
to the home of Mrs. Lester
Landis for a Christmas
Party.
