the Outstanding News
Reporter in the County.
Members and leaders will
be recognized at the Club’s
local Achievement Night
program on November 30 at
7:00 p.m. in the 4-H Center
with a covered dish meal
before the event.

Signed by 4
Conservation
Cooperators
Four new cooperative
conservation agreements
were signed by the Lan
caster County Conservation
District board of directors at
a recent board meeting.
The cooperating land
owners who also signed the
agreements will be im
plementing conservation
plans on their properties.
The new cooperators, the
townships in which their
properties lie and the
acreages are: Christian H.
Shenk, Strasburg Township,
58 acres; Reuben B. Martin,
Ephrata, 13 acres; Jonas M.
Zeiset, Caernarvon, 80 acres,
and the City of Lancaster,
with a 45-acre plot in
Manheim Township.

Grassland FFA
Wins Silver Emblem
The Gold Emblem award
is given to FFA Chapters for
outstanding achievements as
a chapter. The award at the
National level is presented at
the National FFA Con*
vention held at Kansas City,
Mo. The Grassland FFA
chapter competing with
chapters throughout the
state and the nation recently
received a Silver Medal for
their efforts. Lloyd Hoover,
chapter President was in
charge of preparing the
application this year.
The application better
known as the Chapter Rating
Form, contains a report of
the activities carried out by
each chapter during the
course of the year. The
Grassland FFA had a rather
active year with local,
county, regional, state and
national participation. Usipg
the chapter Program of
Work, the activities carried
out during the year are
recorded under the headings
of Leadership, Supervised
Farming Programs, Ear
ning and Savings,
Recreation activities, and

The chapter this year played
a part in making the Nolt’s
Pond Project, the project of
the year for the Jaycees.
Chapter also carried out
community service projects.
The Silver Emblem
awarded this year was one of
two presented to Penn
sylvania chapters. With a
busy school season already
in session, the Grassland
Chapter will again strive for
the most coveted award in
the FFA-that of the National
Gold Emblem.
