Silver, field Inaugural
The Franklin Mint has
been appointed to create the
official Gerald R. Ford
Inaugural Plate by the
Presidential Inaugural
Medal Committee,
In making the an
nouncement, Charles L.
Andes, president of The
Franklin Mint, said, “This
will be only the second time
in the history of the United
States that an Official
Presidential Inaugural Plate
will be minted.”
In 1973, The Franklin Mint
was also appointed to mint

Inaugural Plate in the
nation’s history.
The Ford Inaugural Plate
will be minted in two editions
- one in solid sterling silver
($200), and one in solid 18
karat gold (13,500). The
silver plate will contain
more than 9.0 troy ounces of
sterling, and the gold plate
will contain more than 14.0
troy ounces of 18 karat gold.
Each plate will bear the
official inaugural medallic
portrait of President Ford.

The plate will measure
eight Inches in diameter and
will be minted with a
flawless Proof finish, in*
dlvidually hallmarked, and
serially numbered and
registered in the name of the
individual collector.
The total number of plates
minted will be exactly equal
to the number ordered by
Nov. 30, 1974. After all
authorized plates have been
minted, the dies used to
create them will be
presented to the National
Archives. Thereafter, the
second inaugural plate will
never be minted again.
Collectors may order only
one plate in silver and one
plate in gold. All orders for
the Official Gerald R. Ford
Inaugural Plate must be
postmarked by Nov. 30,1974‘.
Any orders bearing later
postmarks will be regret
fully declined and returned.

thanksgiving and praise.
