Nov. 9.1974 14 Angus Entries In North American Show Aiigua breeders have entered more than 400 head of bulls and heifers in the 1974 North American Livestock Exposition set for November 17-18-19 In Louisville. Kentucky, reports Lioyd D. Miller, executive secretary of the American Angus Association. There will be Angus shows for both Junior entries and open classes. In addition the American Angus Association will bold its annual meeting of delegates in Louisville during the show. A special program on “Beef Cows and Credit” is also planned, according to Miller. One reason for its popularity is that the Association has designated It a National Angus Show with additional premium money. Total purse will be $20,000 with |ISO for class winners. It will be Judged under the Association’s three-judge system by Larry Cotton, Woodbury, Georgia; Robert Scarth, Athens, Georgia and Richard Sour, Urbana, Ohio. Young Angus cattlemen have entered 96 head of registered heifers in the junior breeding cattle show. This will mark the first time in more than half a century that the annual meeting has v I i I l i t 717-299-2571 been held outside Chicago. The open class Angus heifer show will be Monday mor ning at the show grounds beginning at 8:00 a.m. The bull show is set for 9:00 a.m. Tuesday. The steer show and selection of the grand champion steer will also be on Tuesday. A special event at the show will be the program on “Beef Cows and Credit,” sponsored by the Association for the 450 delegates to the Angus Annual Meeting and other interested cattle breeders. This program will be at the Kentucky Fair and Ex position Center at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17, following the junior Angus The Kansas Simmental Association’s Fourth Annual “Performance Selected” Female Sale will be held December 7, 1974 in Salina, Kansas, according to Bob Dickinson, K.S.A. President, and John Teagarden, Sale Chairman. The sale will feature only cattle indexing 100 and over, and only cattle raised in Kansas will be consigned. The sale catalog will feature complete performance data, and is available by writing John Teagarden, Sale Chariman, LaCygne, Kansas 66040. Approximately 125 lots will be sold, including a purebred bull of breeding age. He is the son of Scottish Neff. Also featured will be a 34-blood Lohner-Fim cows with a %- blood Galant heifer at side. The sale will offer 25 bred 34- blood heifers, and 20 open 34- blood heifers. Fifteen %- blood cows with 34-blood claves at side will be selling. Also offered will be 25 bred %-bloods, including three pens, and 15 open yearling %-bloods. For junior bidders only, ages eight through 18, 25 weaned %-blood heifers will be sold. I Simmental Sale Slated For heifer show. Guest speakers at the Cows and Credit meeting will be Oliver A. Hansen, president of the Liberty Trust and Savings Bank, Durpnt, Iowa; Frank J. Sibert, senior vice-president, Northwestern National Bank, Pulaski, Tennessee. All three men have worked closely with farm financing, and the beef cattle business for years. There will be special seating for Angus Association delegates, but all interested persons are invited to attend. Following the meeting there will be an Angus reception at the Galt House in downtown Louisville. Dec. 7th The sale will be held at the Farmers and Ranchers Commission Company of Salina. The sale will begin at 1:30 p.m. Curt Rodgers will be the auctioneer. Sale Headquarters will be located at the Salina Hilton Inn.
