Wayne Readinger, master of the Pennsylvania State Grange, warned delegates to tbe organization’s 102nd annual convention. Readinger, who is roun ding out his sixth year as master of the 58,000-member state Grange, pointed out that agriculture is being asked' to provide both adequate food for tbe American people and to ease the threat of hunger abroad. “But,” he asked, “how can fanners do the job expected of them in the face of financial difficulties unlike any experienced in the past?” Unless farmers are assured reasonable income for the food they produce, Readinger said, “the vicious inflationary spiral sweeping the nation could threaten the very existence of agriculture as we know it today.” He also criticized the State Milk Marketing Board for failure to “act in a responsible manner as mandated by law.” State Senator Patrick J. Stapleton, Chairman of the Senate agriculture com mittee, pledged bis cooperation in seeking solutions to the problems of Pennsylvania farmers. “Above all,” he declared, we must preserve our current agricultural land.” He also cited the need to overcome the problems of health care and rural poverty in rural areas of the state. A square dance team from Fayette County was judged best-of-show after winning first place in its category in the talent contest. The group, in winning best-of show honors, qualified to compete at the National Grange convention at Sacramento, Calif., next PUBLIC AUCTION The 50-Year Collection of Antiques of EDGAR F.
