Canned mushrooms, whole or
sliced, are ready to add elegance
to a savory casserole made of
staples such as macaroni, rice,

mushroom or chicken soup or
Cheddar cheese soup.
According to the American
Mushroom Institute, 74 percent
of all domestic mushrooms are
consumed in canned form. They
can be had in a variety of sizes*
2,3, 4, 6 and 8-ounce cans for
household use and as whole but
tons, sliced buttons and pieces
nnd stems. Canned mushrooms
are already cooked so they only
need heating. If they are to be
sauteed, drain the liquid and
save it for use in gravies, soups,
etc. Blot the buttons or slices
with paper towels before adding
to hot fat.
