Cover and simmei* for 2 hours or until meat and vegetables are tender. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes before serving add dumplings and cover pan again to bubble. Dumplings: 1 cup flour Vi teaspoon salt IV5* teaspoons baking powder % cup milk 2 tablespoons melted fat or salad oil to make soft dough Combine ingredients and drop into bubbling stew by teaspoonful. Cover pan and cook for 15 minutes. Served with a tossed salad, Iced tea or milk. HAZEL’S APPLE DUKEY 1 cup sugar butter or oleo the size of an egg 2 cups flour 3 teaspoons baking powder Vi cup milk or water 1 egg pinch of salt vanilla Slice apples in bottom ofbuttered dish, dot with butter and sprinkle on cinnamon. Pour batter on top. Bake at 325 degrees in glass dish about SO minutes. Serve warm or cold with ice cream or milk. RAISIN NUT SPICE CAKE 1 cup raisins 2 cups water Vz cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1% cups flour 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon allspice V* teaspoon salt 1 egg beaten Vz cup chopped walnuts (optional) Add water to raisins and boil 10 minutes. During the Work Project time terry cloth bibs, washable bed pads, physical therapy cylinders, and disposable newspaper bags were made for a nursing home. Life saver yam dolls were also made. Mrs. Albert Fry Jr. was re elected as President for one year and Mrs. Robert Shearer Was voted as Recording Secretary for two years. When water re boils, drain Immediately and drench with cold water. Cut away underside membrane and remove meat from shells in one piece. Peel and mince 1 medium onion. Pace and dice 1 medium apple. Melt 'A cup (% stick) butter in skillet and saute onion and apple until yellow, but not brown Stir in 3 tablespoons flour and Vi teaspoon salt When blended, add 1 cup chicken stock and stir over low heat until sauce begins to thicken. Stir in 1 cup cream and continue stirring until smooth and thick. Add % to 1 teaspoon curry powder. Dice cooked rock lobster meat. Add to sauce and heat thoroughly. Serve with boil ed rice, chutney, canned peanuts and coconut. Yields 6 servings.
