Cedar St., Lititz, holds a handful of long string beans he has grown in his garden. Christ noted the longest bean measured 22 inches in length. They are good eating “cut up” and cooked with ham. In addition to beans, he grows tomatoes, egg plants, turnips and pickles. His wife has canned 20 jars of pickles. Bob Malick, Channel B’s farm and home host, will have as his guest Marian G. Pulaski, a nutritionist with Dairy Council Inc., Southampton, Pa. Ms. Pulaski has an im pressive background in the fields of food and good nutrition acquired through Industrial Company Wins Tops Safety Award Every year the National Safety Council awards its own “Oscar:” For an outstanding performance by an industrial company in the field of em ployee safety. This year Union Carbide Corporation won it. Called the Award of Honor, it is the Council’s highest award for an excellent safety record. The winning record for work done in 1973 fea tured a rate for disabling in juries of only 1.47 million employee-hours worked* The award was based on the safety performance of all 73,754 Union Carbide em ployees in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. National Safety Council estimates that fewer than 5 out of every 1,000 work units in the United States can qual ify for this coveted award.
