The members had an ex change box lunch which was enjoyed by all. Mrs. E. Robert Nolt, president gave the highlight of the County Executive Board. The Society voted to give $5O to the Jaycee Camp Project. Mrs. Paul Kauffman was announced as chairman of the nominating-, committee. Miss Joyce Burkholder was the speaker. She was the recipient of the National Goodwill Worker of 1973. Because of this award she has had the pleasure of traveling all over the country, been on many television Shows and a guest at the White House. She not only told the story of her life but of the many handicapped people who have been able to help themselves as a result of learning a job through the help and training of Goodwill Industries. BERKS COUNTY Society 5 Fifteen members and one guest, of Farm Women Group 5 attended the doggie roast which preceded the monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Harold Zech man, Stouchsburg. Mrs. Albert Moyer, recording secretary, presided at the business meeting. Mrs. George Troutman, corresponding secretary, read the minutes, and the treasurer’s report was submitted by Mrs. Richard Schareff. The Food and Volunteer committee chairman, Mrs. Leroy Miller, reported group members had assisted in the serving of food at the clean up following the bam fire on the Cyrus Sprecher farm. Mrs. Moyer read an in vitation received from Group 1, Lebanon County, to attend their “Night of En tertainment” Sept. 10 at the lona Methodist Church. She also read a note received from Group 8, Berks County, to attend a meeting scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Sharltlesville Grange Hall. Members were informed that if Christmas gifts are to be sent to the Hamburg State School, the institution would like to receive them by the end of November. Also discussed was the County Convention to be held Oct. 5 at the Kutztown Grange Hall. Reservations must be received by Sept. 15 and those wishing to enter the long dress sewing contest were informed that the entry may be a long skirt and a blouse, or a long gown. Group members were urged to bring gifts for the silent auction. Mrs. Ernest Wessner will represent Group 5 on the County Convention’s nominating committee. Sept. 7,1974 Park City will soon be the site of a new farmer’s market that will run for three days each week. The market which involves approximately 30,000 square feet will be located on the lower level of the Park City Mall near the movie theater entrance. There will be close to 70 stands offering a variety of products including baked goods, fresh produce and fresh and smoked meats, smoked meats. As of this date, 70 percent of the display stands have been leased on a regular basis. Turn off hot and cold water faucets to prevent strain on the hoses cuased by water pressure after finishing washing. Check to see that hoses are not kinked or bent. Gean washer lint filter after using. Wipe the inside of the tub and agitator with a clean damp cloth or sponge as routine care. To remove the agitator, turn the cap to the left (counterclockwise). Lift out the agitator, check the bottom of the tub and remove any objects that may have dropped out of pockets. Wipe the agitator post before replacing the agitator, then secure the cap tightly in position. Leave the loading door or lid open to dry out the in terior.
