Horticulture Gub recently
held their July meeting
which began at 7:30 P.M.
The program began with a
Penn Manor
4-H Club
Penn Manor Community 4-
H Club met at the home of
Carl Thomas with a baseball
game preceding the business
meeting.
During the business
meeting members were
reminded to send all fund
raising potato chip money
to either Carl Thomas or Jay
Stauffer, outstanding
membership dues to the
treasurer, Jay Stauffer and
photo and script to the club
news reported for the
completion of the scrap
book.
The club chose Karen
Greider as their Senior
Queen and Cathy Martin as
their Junior Queen for the 4-
H Achievement Day.
President Karen Greider
participated in the
Achievement Festival at
Penn State August 5-7.
The 4-H Exchange
students from Maine were
introduced to the group and
shared the evening with
them.
The next meeting will be
held August 27, at 7:30 p.m.
at the home of Guy and
Yvonne Eshelman.
Weaver Named

James M. Weaver,

manager of the Salunga
Agway store affective July
22. Weaver was formerly
operations manager at the
cooperative’s QuarryviUe
store.
An Agway employee since
1956, Weaver is married to
the former Elvina Herr. The
Weavers have one son.

“The American Heart
Association has, for years,
been presenting but one side
of a highly complex and most

demonstration put on by
Joyce Hemminger entitled
“How does your garden
grow?” Following this
presentation, Mrs. Hen
derson, a York garden club
member and certified Judge,
presented a talk on how to
pick and present flowers for
show. This was followed by a
question and answer session.
The next part of the program
involved how to pick and
prepare and show vegetables
for show which was put on by
Jerry Krone, a past 4-H
member who was a member
of the 4-H vegetable judging
team in 1971. After his
presentation, there followed
a question and answer
session whereby Jerry and
David A. Hart, assistant
County Agent, took charge.
There was a total of 65 people
present. A committe was
formed to plan a York
County 4-H Horticulture
Show at the North Mall. The
September meeting of the 4-
H Horticulture Club will
involve the construction of a
terrarium. The club extends
its greatest appreciation to
Miss Megan Shaub and her
mother for planning the
evening program. If any
York County Horticulture
members who could not
attend the meeting and are
interested on being on a
Horticulture committee,
contact Jeff Roth at your
earliest convenience.
