A Lot Rides On Your Tires
Only one part of your car
ever comes in contact with
the road, your tires, and the
more you know about caring
for them, the better service
and performance you’ll get
from them
Before buying, tell the
dealer - the type of roads you
travel, speed you drive, weight
you carry, monthly mileage
and how long you expect
to keep the car
Avoid quick starts, panic
stops, fast turns and exces
sive speeds that tend to take
a toll on tire treads. Proper
inflation is important, too,
for safety, tire mileage and
improved gasoline mileage.
Check the air pressure (when
the tires are cold) monthly.
In fact, researchers at Gulf
Oil recommend that they be
checked weekly if you’re a
hard driver.
Equalized wear means
more mileage and regular tire
rotation is a great equalizer.
While you’re rotating, look
for excessive abnormal wear,
which could be a symptom
of out-of-balance wheels,
grabbing brakes or faulty
shock absorbers. More infor
mation on tires and tire safe
ty is available from Gulf Oil
