Baby Beef
Lancaster County Red
Rose 4-H Baby Beef and
Lamb Club met at the New
Holland Community Park on
Ju1y3,1974, with Joe Lefever
calling the meeting to order.
Following the secretaries
report and roll call old and
new business .was discussed.
The tour will be in the
Lampeter area on August 8.
The queen contestants
between 4-H members were
then ask to give a three
minute talk on “What 4-H
Means To Them”. The
contestants for junior queen
were Judy Zimmerman,
Diana Gish, Cindy Erb,
Linda Martin, and Debbie
Greider. Hie senior con
testants were Ann Martin,
Keb Kreider, Donna Bare,
Cathy Brubaker, Chris Erb,
and Donna Nissley. The two
picked to represent our club
for queen were Linda Martin
and Cathy Brubaker.
A demonstration was
given by Nancy and Sue Hen*
on Buying Beef. Another
demonstration was given by
Gary Brubaker and Ken
Longnecker on Com Silage
Additives.
Chester County 4-Hers
were there as guests for an
ice cream party.

The Landisville 4-H
Sewing Club met on Wed
nesday, July 3 from 9 to 11
a.m. at Centerville Junior
High School.
The 4-H Club Pledge was
led by Lynne Henry. Cathy
Brubaker gave'a report on 4-
H Leadership Congress.
Miss Anne Hlnkel,
assistant home economist of
the Lancaster County Ex
tension Service, quizzed
members of different
aspects of 4-H Club work.
Debra Gregory, the ex
tension summer assistant,
reviewed activities
scheduled for Achievement
Day.
The following demon
strations were given: “Chain
carriers” by Mary Roth,
Lancaster
4-H Council
Lancaster County 4-H
Council will meet July 17,
1974 at 7:30p.m. at the Farm
and Home Center. Guest
speaker for the evening will
be Mr. Tom Shaeffer,
Executive Director Lan
caster County Consumer
Protection Commission.
The Maine 4-H Interstate
Exchange Trip will be
discussed. Maine 4-H’ers will
“Make a paper cup” by Sue
Grim, and “Gum Wrapper
Chain” by Kamie Fabor.
Members worked on their
projects following the
business meeting.
On Tuesday, July 9 to 11
a.m. members met again for
the fourth work meeting.
Following a short business
meeting the following
demonstrations were given:
“Pot Holder” by Cindy Harr,
“Recipe Holder” by Lynne
Hnery, and “Mod Podge” by
Jonelle Gingrich. Linda
Haller discussed babysit
ting.

their sewing projects.

Plans are made for a county
tour, picnic, and swimming
party. Lancaster 4-H’ers will
visit Maine between August
17 and August 25.
Publicity plans for the
Tennessee 4-H Square
Dancers who will be per
forming August 3,1974 at the
Farm and Home Center will
be finalized.
Any 4-H’er who is in
terested on helping with 4-H
Achievement Day on August
15 is invited to attend this
County Council meeting.
The Executive Committee
will meet at 7:00 p.m. in the
Extension office.
Streaking
Stitchers
The fourth meeting of the
Solanco Streaking Stitchers
met Monday morning, from
8:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. at the
Solanco High School.
The members continued
working on the projects that
included slippers and
clothings.
The nod; meeting will be
during the first week in
August.

Busy Bakers
4-H Club
Thirteen members of the
Busy Bakers 4-H Club met
July 2, 1974 at St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church, Mt. Joy.
The first part of the
meeting was spent with a
short business meeting and
playing some games. The
Busy Bakers made Egg
Salad- Sandwich Boats and
Strawberry Kool Ade.
The next meeting will be
July 9.

The B. C. Club of
Brickerville cooked and
prepared a meal in foil over
the coals. Jane and Martha
Gregory will be par
ticipating in the district
demonstration day at
Dillsburg on Friday. Last
week the girls participated
in the county demonstration
day which was held at the
Farm and Home Center.
4-H Judging
Seminar
All 4-H Home Economics
dub Leaders are invited to
attend a Judging Seminar to
be held July 16, 1974 at 1:00
p.m. at the Farm and Home
Center. This session will be
to help cooking and sewing
leaders in judging their
club’s roundup. What to look
for in the judging of the
various projects will be
discussed.

Clashing Thimbles
4-H
The fourth meeting of the
Penn Manor Clashing
Thimbles 4-H Club was held
Wednesday morning July 3,
at the MillersviUe Middle
School.
The meeting was called to %
order by Linda Slckman,
who also led the club pledge.
Reports were given by
Jeannette Bauman and
Karen Breneman concerning
the 4-H Leadership Congress
held June 23-27 at Penn State
University which both girls
had attended.
Dress Revue was
discussed and the deadline is

Fitness
Team
“My health to better
living.” Physical Fitness has
always p»~yed an important
role in 4-H activities. Lan
caster County will be holding
tryouts for the Physical
Fitness Team to represent
the county at 4-H State Days.
The team will be judged on
running, throwing, jumping,
and nutrition knowledge. 4-H
members who participate
must be over thirteen years
old. Tryouts are July 16 at
8:30 a.m. at the Lancaster
County Central Park. For
directions and more in
formation contact the Ex
tension office (394-6851).

Brown Swiss
The Ayrshire, .Jersey,
Brown Swiss 4-H Club held a
swimming party at the
monthly meeting on July 8 at
Masonic Homes,
Elizabethtown.
Hie club discussed the
joint meeting and
preparations were made for
the food and games. It was
decided to give money prizes
to the clubs at the calf
dressing contest at the
Round-up.
Nominations were made
for delegates to the 4-H
Queen Contest. Those
elected were: Junior -
Teresa Kupp; Senior -
Brenda Eshleman, alternate
- Barbara Aaron.
Refreshments were served
following the meeting.
The next meeting will be
the joint meeting at Muddy
Run Park, on August 12, at
7:30 p.in. -
