The control of mosquitos is
a problem in many areas this
spring. The more rainy
weather we have the heavier
the infestation. Hie place to
begin is to clean out all
standing water which is the
favorite breeding areas for
this insect. The elimination
of tin cans, barrels, open
ditches with standing water,
water in roof gutters, and
swampy areas frill reduce
the population. If these areas
cannot be removed, then a
light film of No. 2 fuel oil or
kerosene applied every week
or 10 days will prevent
reproduction. During' the
day, the mosquito hides in
dark places in buildings,
under porches, in shrubbery,
weeds, and tall grass. The
spraying of the areas weekly
with a residual type spray
such as Sevin or Malathion
will kill the mosquitos.
During the summer months
an enjoyable evening outside
is much better without any
jbosqiiitos.
