Sinkholes are quite common in this part of the state because of the ' limestone rock formations. In most cases these sinkholes lead directly to an underground cavern that acts as a conduit for surface water to get into the un derground waters reservoir. Over the years the sinkhole has been a favored place to dump junk and trash; however, this is dangerous because there is great chance of polluting the water underground. Owners of these areas are urged to restrict the dumping of anything that might pollute water down in the rock fomrations. Empty cans, bottles, barrels, or any king of chemicals or garbage wifi be dangerous in the sinkhole. Water pollution is a serious problem in many areas and sinkholes could be the cause of some of it.
