Lancaster Co. Youth
Lancaster County will be
sending sixty-seven 4-H
representatives to the
Pennsylvania State Un
iversity for 4-H Leadership
Congress from June 24-27.
For many 4-H’ers Leader
ship Congress-is their first
state event to represent
Lancaster County. These
members, who are aU over
thirteen years old, will be
looking at current teenage
problems and will be lear
ning special leadership skills
to help them as 4-H teen
leaders.
The Lancaster County
delegation will join with
about 1,300 other 4-H
members from across the
state to share and contribute
ideas which will improve
local community programs.
They will also take part in
assemblies, discussion- and
workshop groups, and
recreational activities.
Speakers at the four-day
conference include Robert
H. White-Stevens, chariman
of the Bureau of Con
servation and En
vironmental Science at
Rutgers University; and
Pearl Williams-Jones,
singer, pianist, and faculty
member of Federal City
College, Washington, D.C.
Members participating in

Steve Donough, Henry
Gibson, Ron Walton, Betty
Jo Bitter, Jane Gregory,
Suzanne Groff, and Carmen
Wright, will be attending this
part of the 4-H Congress'
program.
Nancy Kenkel and Ted
Gray have been selected to
serve as Leadership Council
representatives. They will
help supervise the program
activities for the delegates.
They will have a two-day
counseling and orientation
session to acquaint them
with their duties before
Congress.
Darryl Bollinger and
Christine Erb will attend 4-H
Congress as Leadership
School Advisors. They will
help supervise the activities
of the older teens.
Educational, workshops
are planned for the leaders
attending the event as
chaperones. Leaders at
tending with the Lancaster
group will be Mr. & Mrs.
Edward Donough, Manheim,
and Mrs. Mary Jane Miller,
Lancaster. Miss Debra
Gregory, 4-H Summer
Assistant, will also attend 4-
H Congress.
