This is 1 percent more than last month but 2 percent less than May 1973. The May average of 14.5 million layers in flocks was 4 percent below last month’s average and 2 percent below May 1973. Egg production 'per 100 layers during May totaled 2,105 eggs up 4 percent from last month and 2 percent above a year earlier. Nationally, the 5,705 million eggs produced during May was down 1 percent from May 1973. Layers on hand during May averaged 284 million, 2 percent below a year earlier. The average rate of lay during the month was up 1 percent from .a year earlier. Thirteen members of the Busy Bakers Cooking Club met June 18, 1974 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Mt. Joy. Diane Martin will represent the Busy Bakers in the 4-H Posture Queen Contest, August 8,1974 at the Farm and Home Center. Cindy Brubaker was runner up. Following the game period the Club learned to dean and cut celery and carrot sticks. They also made grape punch. The next meeting will be June 25. MEMBER FD IC.
