The attending members have earned the right to represent their school and chapter during their school year. The FFA Activities Week consists of many activities such as educational demonstrations, athletic & ■ events and contests. Contest and awards play an Important part on Vo-Ag Education. Contest are a means to motivate and develop their individual' abilities. The contests have the effect of measuring the practical agricultural abilities of each student end are related to their school instruction. Also, the con tests provide opportunities for learning facts, thinking, building, interest and at titudes in addition to developing skills, problems solving, and self confident. The are many contests a student can enter throughout the year which should stimulate his interest on the local and district levels. Generally those students who do well on the locaHevel go on to the state contest held during FFA Activities’s Week. The top students in each contest on the state level will represent Penn sylvania at the national or regional level contest. Angus Show Set July 20 The Western Pennsylvania Junior Angus Show is set for 1:00' p.m. July 20 at the Mercer County 4-H Park, reports Louis “Mick” Colvin, regional manager for the American Angus Association. The show will be open to all Angus exhibitors. There will be classes for both steers and registered breeding heifers. Although the show starts at 1:00 p.m. cattle are to be in the stalls by 10:00 a.m. that day. Also on the program will a fitting and grooming contest and a cattle showmanship contest.
