County Farm and Home
Center reported on the
present and future plans for
the Center.
The members will serve at
the snack bar of the Ephrata
hospital May 21 from 1 ;00 to
8:00 p.m. and Friday, May 28
* from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Mrs. Mark Nesteroth from
Penryn gave a demon
stration and showed a film
on “How To Cook the New
Pork”. She is the wife of a
farmer who raises and
markets hogs and she is a
member of the Porkettes, a
national organization of hog
producers’ wives who help to
educate the public in the
Society 3
Farm Wotnen Society 3
met May 18 at the Triple G
Farm, RDI, Stevens, Mrs.
Donald Graybill was the
hostess.
A contribution of $5O was
given to the County Project,
the Jaycee Camp for
Retarded children.
The Society will assist at
the Ephrata Hospital Lawn
Fete June 1.
A report of the Spring
Rally held in York was given
by Mrs. Luther Moore.
Mrs. Robert Gregory,

various ways to prepare and
serve pork.
A loin roast of pork was
given as a door prize and was
won by Mrs. Donald
GraybiU.
The next meeting will be
June 15 at the Project 70
museum. Mrs. Ivan Eberly
will be the hostess.

Farm Women Society 5
held their May meeting at St.
Stevens United Church of
Christ’s Parish House in
New Holland.
June 8 we will have a Food
Sale at the Manheim
Historical Flea Market on
the Square. Starting at 8:00
a.m. we will have baked
goods, sandwiches and cold
drinks. Rain date will be
June 15 for this affair.
Lancaster County Farm
Women’s Picnic will be held
August 7 p.m. at Lampeter.
Bring your own utensils and
a covered dish.
. A trip to Ocean City, New
Jersery is being planned for
August.
Mrs. Herbert Frey and her
daughters, Cerise, Denise
and Bernice put on a skit
about their garden. Mrs.
Abram Weidmen read two
poems and a prayer. Mrs.
Wilbur Hostetter and her
daughter Mrs. Betty Jean
Haverstick played a Piano
duet. Miss Kathryn
Eichelberger gave two
readings.
Geraniums were given to
the oldest Mother, Mrs.
Bessie GraybiU. Youngest
Mother went to Mrs. Judith
Rohrer. The most Daughters
or Daughters-In-Law went to
Mrs. Herbert Frey. The
•Mother coming from the
longest distance was Mrs.
Anna Mae Gamer.
Our next meeting wiU be
held June 29 at Mrs. Clyde
Weaver’s 2342 Leabrpok

met at the home of Mrs.
Harold Ney, Marietta RDI
May 18th at 2 p.m. Fourteen
members and three visitors
were present. The meeting
was in charge of Miss Anna
Mae Eby, president, who led
the group in singing “How
Great Thou Art”. Devotions
were led by Mrs. Isabel
Endslow. The minutes were
read by Miss Mary Grace
Martin, secretary. RoU CaU
response created interest as
each one told what her
pleasure was when creating
with thread or yam.

Misses Mary Grace Martin,
Anna Mae and Ruth Eby
traveUed to the Conestoga
View Home, Lancaster, to
entertain elderly folks there.
Kathy Hay, Middletown
and Ann Brown, Harrisburg
favored the ladies by singing
“Up With People” and
beautiful portions of “The
Sound of Music”. Ann
Brown concluded with a solo.
Sue Heinaman, a 4-H
leader demonstrated basic
steps in Macrame. This art
was known in the Victorian
Era and variations of
designs were created since
then. Each lady had the
privOege of working out the
design being shown.
Please remember the time
for the tour of The Hickory
Farms is June 10. Meet at
the Union National bank at
6:45 p.m.
The bus will leave at 8:30
aon., June 17 for the Get
tysburg Jour. Please make
reservations by June 1.

suggesting spring.
The next meeting will be a
birthday party to be held in
the United Church of Christ,
Marietta June 15 at 2 p.m.

Farm Women Society 12
met recently at the Farm
and Home Center. Members
of Soc. 28 were guests at a
covered dish luncheon.
Devotions were presented
by Mrs. Marian Click and
'the program by Miss
Romaine Engle from the
Police Department.
Members were reminded
of a touring day, June 19.
They will meet at the
Millersville Mennonite
Church at 10:00 a.m.
Society 14
Farm Women Society 14
held their May meeting at
Black Rock Retreat as a
Mother-Daughter Banquet.
Mrs. Charles Lefever gave
the history of Black Rock
and Mrs. Paul Zerker gave a
demonstration of gift
wrapping with tissue paper.
An organ, piano duet was
enjoyed with Mrs. John
Groff playing the piano and
Mrs. Christian Landis
playing the organ.
The regular June meeting
will be held on the 12th at the
Farm and Home Center. The
members of Society No. 30
will be guests and the
program will be given by the
Martin Meylin Bell Ringers.

Final Plans for the
Chicken Barbeque supper to
be held on Saturday evening,
May 25 at Shaub’s auction
grounds in Kirkwood were
announced by the chairman,
Mrs. Janet Frantz of Bart
viUe, at the mother-daqghter
banquet May 16. Tickets for
the barbeque to be held from
4 to 8 p.m. can be obtained
from Farm Women mem
bers of the chairman Mrs.
Frantz.
The business session was
conducted by the president
Mrs. Emily Greenwald and
78 attended the banquet.
Twelve geraniums were
given to those present
holding a lucky number.
Candace and Bret Hershey,
aged 8 and 10, children of Mr.
and Mrs. John Hershey, sang
several selections.
The speaker, Mrs. James
Herr of Nottingham ex
pressed thoughts on
Mothers.
Farm Women Society 15
will hold their June meeting
in the form of a covered dish
luncheon featuring a fashion
show by Dee-E-Gee of
Strasburg and will be held at
the Black Rock Retreat.
Mrs. Douglas Eby will sing.
Members of Society 20 and
Society 31 and the County
Officers will be guests.
Society 25
Farm Women Society 25
met Saturday, May 11th at
“Historic Strasburg” for a
Mother-Daughter Banquet.
Nineteen members and
thirty-one guests attended.
Devotions were led by
Mrs. Clayton Haverstick. A
talk was given by Mrs.
Richard Huber, the “Hat
Lady.”
A Bake Sale will be held
June 15th at Southern
Market.
The next meeting will be
held June Bth at the home of
Mrs. Samuel Goss.
Society 31
Society of Farm Women 31
approved donations to two
organizations at its Monday
night meeting at the home of
Mrs. Robert Wenger. The
donations were $25 to the
Solanco Meals on Wheels and
$5O to Solanco Family Health
Clinic.
Arrangements were made
for the food stand at Glenn
Fite’s sale June 1. It was
announced that there is still
space available for the Farm
Women trip to Michigan
June 4-7. The trip to the
shore will be July 15. Society
31 will be entertained by
Society 15 at a luncheon at
Black Rock on June 20.
