16—Uncarter Farming.. Saturday, y«y.25,1974 Penn miow 4-H Club The Penn Willow 4-H Club recently held its monthly meeting. This meeting was the annual clean-up of Conestoga Township roads. The club with a mem bership of 97 people, ranging in age from 8 to 16, cam paigns once every year to clean up the roads. About 86 of the 97 members gathered Conestoga Crusaders 4-H Horse Club Formed Between April 24 and May 17, 1974 the planning and organizing of a new 4-H Horse and Pony Club called the Conestoga Crusaders was completed. The new club leader is Jody Alexander of Deep Meadow Farm, RDI, Pequea, where the Crusaders will meet once a month. The assistant group leader is Nancy Jenkins, RD2, Conestoga. Officers of the club are as follows: Margy Alexander, president; Jackie Shopf, vice president; Gene Eisen berger, secretary; Donna Walton, treasurer; Julie Jenkins, news reporter; Joyce Ressler and Dale Gisenberger, song and game leaders. Happy Trail Riders 4-H The Happy Trail Riders 4- H Club met last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Sholly, 902 Miller St., Lebanon. Ten members and the adult leader, Fred Hoff, attended. Pam Wunderlich, president, conducted the business session. Ph 717-866-2138 4-H NEWS at the Conestoga Elemen tary School at 6:30 p.m. on May 10. The members then divided into groups. The contest to collect the most trash had begun. The members collected trash until darkness set in. Then the trucks, driven by parents and leaders, took the trash to the home of A 1 Goss, a 4-H leader. The trash was later taken to the Martic Township Landfill. The club also had another activity this month. This was a hoagie sale. The club sold over 750 hoagies. The prize for selling the most hoagies went to Susan Kleckner who sold over 100 hoagies. In both of these activities the club had a lot of fun, while also performing a service for the community. Barbßylee, News Reporter Helping Hands The Jonestown Helping Hands 4-H Club met recently to pick projects and elect feeders. Officers elected are Vicki Edris, president; Carol Fleischman, vice president; Debbie Kohr, secretary; Connie Edris, news repor _ter; Diane Boyer, game leader, and Sherri Hauer, about riding in the Memorial Day parade May 27. In surance papers and enrollment sheets were filled out. Some of the 4-H project books were given out. Tina Sholly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Sholly, 902 Miller St., Lebanon and Todd Heilman, son of Mr. Fontana 4-H The Fontana 4-H club recently met at tbe old Fontana Schoolhouse.'Adult leaders .were Mrs. Marylyn Balmer and Mrs. Linda Eckenrode. The officers are Brenda Burkholder, president; Kathy Murray,. vice preisent; Melinda Morris, secretary; Sandra Zeller, assistant secretary; Amy Schaeffer, treasur er; Barb Herr, assistant treasurer; Debbie Murray, news reporter; Beverly Burkholder, assistant news reporter, and Brenda Murray and Melody Siegist, game leaders. Mrs. Matylyn Balmer told the club what the 4-H’s represent. Mrs. Linda Eckenrode spoke on tbe sewing projects. The project books were handed out. Four new girls joined the club. They are Karen Ar nogost, Kelley May, Joanne Freed and Audrey Burkholder. The next meeting is planned for June 6 at 7:30 p.m. 4-H Club song leader. In all, 18 members and two leaders attended. The members picked foods and crafts as our project, and the club will hold a bake sale May 17. The next meeting will be in June at the Bunker Hill Fellowship Hall. and Mrs. Herman Heilman, 805 S.
