On May 8 we will meet at East Petersburg Church of the Brethren at 9:00 to travel to York for our “Spring Rally". May 18 our Mother and Daughter meeting will be held at the Parish House of St. Stevens United Church of Christ in New Holland. The program will be talent from our Society. Hostesses will be Mrs. Amos Mentzer and Mrs. Guy Musselman. Society 8 Farm Women Society 8 met at the home of Mrs. Helen Wivell, Columbia RDI, Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. Miss Anna Mae Eby presided and songs were sung by the group. Mrs. Charles Shank, at the piano played “The Lord’s Prayer”, as a tribute to Mrs. Marie Stoner, a member who passed away several days earlier. Miss Ruth Eby led devotions and read a memorial in honor of Mrs. Stoner who was a faithful, active member for many years. The minutes were read by Miss Mary Grace Martin. The Treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Sylvester Shuman. The proposed budget was approved and accepted for the coming year. Mrs. Harold Frey, on the Sunshine Committee reported having received a thank you for remembrance while ill, from Mrs. Richard Warfel. Mrs. Anna Chapman is in the Columbia Hospital, Room 101, having had cataracts removed from both eyes. Mrs. Ada Greider is in the Lancaster General Hospital. A special surprise fruit basket gift was presented to Mrs. Clinton Eby as she and her husband celebrated their 50th wed ding anniversary a week ago. On Monday, June 17, members will go by bus to Gettysburg. They will leave St. Marks Church, Mt. Joy at 8:30 a.m. and return in the evening. Mrs. Margie Heisey, special speaker gave a detailed account of four women of the Bible. These varied descriptions were of interest as she told of those who lived during different times of Bible History. Society 26 Farm Women Society 28 held their meeting at the home of Mrs. David Garber RDI, Marietta. Mrs. Marian Campbell from the Lan caster Chapter, Pa. Assoc, for the Blind was the speaker. Fifty dollars was donated to the organization, and another $5O to the County project. Mrs. Leroy .Esbenshade was co-hostess and Mrs. Henry Greiner held devotions. The Society made favors for the Blind Assoc, as their work project. The next meeting will be a luncheon held May 23 at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, where Society 11 will be entertained. Society 27 Farm Women Soceity 27 met at the home of Mrs. Raymond Martin on April 23. Co-hostesses were Mrs. John Hershey, Mrs. Sam Heineman and Mrs. Robert Dunkleberger. Society 27 entertained the> County Officers and Soceity 12. Mrs. Buzzard, the guest speaker, presented an in spirational message, titled, “The Parable of The African Violet”. “Bringing Cheer” will be practiced by the Society for the May 28th meeting. The Soceity will form into small elderly friends from the Mount Joy area who are c °BemDers mSmeeUater in the evening at the home of Mrs. Luke Brubaker for their meeting.
