Glenn Weber Resigns
Manheim Vo-Ag Post
Calling it quits after a year on the job, Manheim Central
vo-ag teacher Glenn Weber said he’s resigning because his
school board doesn’t put a high enough priority on the vo-ag
program.
Weber said he and the district superintendent, David M.
Hallstrom, were at odds over the importance of vo-ag and
Young Fanner programs. The Young Farmer program, he
noted, has about 70 members and is being run by one teacher
who can spend only 20 percent of his time with it. The only
other full-time vo-ag teacher in the department is Glenn
Spangler.
Currently, Weber said, there are 68 full time students in vo
ag with the largest freshman class in history expected next
year when about 40 more students will enter the program.'
Weber said he is also meeting with about 160 seventh and
eighth grade students in junior agriculture.
“ Weber said he was discrouaged to think about the amount
of tax dollars coming in from agriculture compared to the
small amount going back in the form of education.
A Penn State graduate and former state FF A president and
national vice-president, Weber said he plans to go into an ag
retailing business with his brothers who operate Weber’s
hatchery at Bowmansville.
Many people once believed that an emerald was an emblem
of success in love-try giving a few to the one you love and
see for yourself'
