Soil Stewardship Week Set For May 19-26
Soil Stewardship Week, a
nationwide observance
which emphasizes man’s
responsibility to protect and
with the Maryland
Veterinary Medical
Association, which sponsors
the event in alternate years.
Part of the Association’s
continuing education
program, the annual clinic
allows practicing
veterinarians to see and
discuss new techniques and
procedures for the care and
treatment of both small and
large animals.
Outstanding veterinarians
in selected fields will present
14 small animal and 12 large
animal demonstrations
during the Clinic, which will
be held in Memorial Hall at
the York Fairgrounds.
The program will begin at
9:00 a.m. and will conclude
at 4:00 p.m.

Pownall Jones, Chairman of
the Chester County Con
servation District announced
today. Mrs. Gertrude
Yamall, is Chairman of the
County Soil Stewardship
Committee.
This year’s theme, “A
Different Place,” em
phasized “how the many
changes now occurring in the
nation affect our continuing
responsibility to be good
stewards of the land,” said
Mr. Jones.
Mr. Jones cited the energy
shortage, environmental
pollution, and the growing
concern over land use as
examples of changes and
developments affecting the
use of America’s natural
resources.
“We hope,” said Mr.
Jones, “that during Soil
Stewardship Week, millions
of Americans will pause for a
moment to consider their
responsibilities for the
protection and use of the
Lord’s earth.”
The district is supplying
local churches with
programs, bulletin inserts,
