The tables were decorated with Easter nests and candles, and a flower arrangement at the head table. Hazel Heist gave the in vocation. Ann Nolt, president, announced the spring rally in York on May 8. Betty Seigrist, chairman of the Special Activities Committee, announced a bake sale on Saturday, Apr. 6 at the Columbia Market. All foods are to be given to Mrs. Seigrist, or a member of her committee, by 8 a.m. of that day; or contact Mrs. Seigrist by phone. The program of the evening was “The Mad Hatter” as presented by Dorothy Parmer, with Helen Buss at the piano. The next meeting will be held on April 27, at the Mountville Church of the Brethren, with Ruth Bushong and Mary Jane Miller as hostesses. The program will be Dr. Chester S. Seventy-seven bed pads were made and donated to shut-ins of the community. Ethel Kindig led the devotions. The county project was discussed, and it was decided to support Retarded Children and Adults. Ten members answered roll call by “my most memorable birthday.” The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Frances Elsen at 1:30 p.m. Society 15 Emily Greenwald, president of Farm Women Society 15, hosted the group at her home in Strasburg for the March meeting. Assisting her as hostesses, were Ella Landis, Mildred Smith, Dorothy Harvey and Jean Bames. Mrs. Green wald led the opening devotions and the flag salute. Members responded to the roll call by giving their favorite Bible character from the Old Testament. Secretary Alma Maule read the minutes and treasurer Mary Howett gave her report. Kathryn Wagner reported last minute details for the bus trip to New York in March, for the Easter Show. Plans are also nearly completed for a trip to Nova Scotia, June 22 through 30. Sunshine chairman, Mary Boyce reported flowers and cards to friends of the group. Birthday greetings were offered for Nancy Lefever. Erma Witmer returned to the group after a period of illness. A thank you note was read from ill member, Frances Ross. It was reported that the group had made 52 ad ditional bed pads for the Cancer Society. The Society cleared $147 from a food sale conducted at the "Ross Thompson sale food table, and plans are made to sponsor another food table on Apr. 20 at the Grady Payne farm sale. A chicken barbeque will be held in Kirkwood on May 25, 4 to 8 p.m. Sadie Greenleaf conducted a contest on kitchen foods, with the prize going to Jean Barnes. Sympathy was expressed upon the recent death of Arme Forbes, an honorary member of Society 15. A donation of $lO was sent in her memory to the Lan caster County Heart Association. The April meeting of the Society will be held on the 18th at the home of Kathryn Wagner, Quarryville, when prizes will be given for the cleverest hats made and modeled. Mrs. John Hershey and Mrs. Albert Frey, Jr. helped at the display table, showing and explaining to the viewers the various items made by the Society 27 women. Society 27 held their business meeting in the WGAL TV Meeting Room. Mrs. Larry Miller and Mrs. Arthur Wenger served brunch to Society 27 during their business meeting. Lancaster County Jaycees carried the vote from Society 27 for a County Project. On April 23, Society 27 will entertain Society 12 at the home of Mrs. Raymond Martin, Marietta, RDI. Society 29 Mrs. Georgia Martin, representing United Cerebral Palsy of Lancaster County was the speaker of the March meeting of Farm Women Society 29 at the home of Mrs. Rodney Miller. Featured at the meeting was an interesting discussion on the facts of Cerebral Palsy, including its characteristics, major types, main causes, and what is being done to help the victims of Cerebral Palsy. A new member, Mrs. Roberi Hoffines, was welcomed into the Society. Members were informed of the Spring Rally, to be held May 8 at Memorial Hall, York Fair Grounds. Society 29 voted to support the JC summer camp as the county project.
