Consignment Sale
Grain
Twelve loads of hay were
sold, with high bid of $77 per
ton. Other hay sold at $35 to
$75 per ton. Straw was sold at
$47 per ton.
224 pieces of consigned
equipment were sold, with
the equipment being shipped
in from New York, New
Jersey, Maryland and Ohio.
Horse drawn implements
also sold well.
All four auctioneers were
busy, selling all day. Twelve
tractors were also reported
as being sold.

Clean Streams Law
To be Discussed At
Final Hinkletown Meet
The last in a series of
meetings sponsored by the
Eastern Lancaster County
Adult Farmer Program will
be held on Wednesday
evening, Feb. 27, at 7:30 in
the Hinkletown Elementary
School just off Route 322 near
Martindale. This meeting
will center upon a discussion
of the Clean Streams Law
and how it affects the far
mers of Lancaster County.
Members of the panel to
discuss this law will include
George Parks, Consultant
for the Water Quality Board
of the Department of En
vironmental Resources;
Orval Bass, District
Conservationist for the
Lancaster County Soil and
Water Conservation Service;
and Henry Hackman,
Executive Secretary of the
Lancaster County Soil
Conservation District.
The State of Pennsylvania
has recently passed a Clean
Streams Law which has
provisions which must be
met by every farmer no later
than July 1, 1977 and these
provisions affect each and
every fanner of Lancaster
County. Among the topics
which will be covered in the
discussion by the panel are:
The requirements of the new
law; how these requirements
can best be met by the local
farmers; the types of help
available to the farmer; and
the time requirements and
penalties of the new law.
No farmer can afford to
remain uninformed about
Feb. 23.1974-4:
the far-reaching provisions
of this new law or com
placent about the 1977
deadline or they may find
themselves facing the stiff
penalties of this new law.
All fanners are urged to
attend this meeting.
