Editor: I think all of us
who served on the Lancaster
County Government Study
Commission feel disap
pointed and frustrated that
we have not been permitted
to complete our work due to
things completely outside
our control or responsibility.
It’s been a privilege for me
to chair such a dedicated,
knowledgeable, hard
working group. We have met

hard task , easier, and will
make the memory of these

At the moment, I don’t
know what can or should be
done with our records and
findings. However, I think
it’s significant to the com*
munity that eleven in*
terested, conscientious
citizens have looked at our
county government closely
and have concluded that the
people of the county would be
better served if we gave our
government a better
structure and a more ap
propriate charter. I hope our
work contributed to public
understanding of the need
and the opportunity for
better county government -
and that the effort to achieve
it will not stop.

nounced today the opening of
two "Hot Line” telephones to
the Lancaster Stockyards for
on-the-spot livestock reports.
The announcement was
made by resident vice
president, H. Paul Rutter,
Jr.
Rutter said a growing
number of livestock feeders
use commodity futures as a
management tool. To meet
the growing demand for
timely livestock in
formation, Merrill Lynch
has installed two direct
phones ~ one at the
Livestock Yards Office
Building above the USDA,
and one adjacent to the lunch
room in the Auction Building
-- connected to the in
vestment company’s office
in Harrisburg.
