In the three classes he didn’t take top prize he took second places. The lone grand championship Roy didn’t take was in the binder class. His nephew, Eugene Rohrer, won that ribbon. Eugene took that grand champion ribbon with the first place long binder entry. Witmer J. Rohrer, Roy’s brother and Eugene’s father, took first in the short binder category. Hershey, Lititz RD2. Hershey showed the top short wrapper tobacco class winner. In the FFA competion which preceded the adult judging, 17- year-old Raymond Dohner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Dohner, took the grand champion ribbon with his wrapper tobacco. The FFA event was also kept in the family as Raymond’s 15-year old brother, Marlin, had the second place wrapper. Roger Frey, Conestoga RD2, had the champion hand of filler tobacco which gave the Penn Manor FFA Chapter seven placings out of the top five places fn the two classes.
