The increase is reflected in a study by U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmer Cooperative Service. In the same time span, business research expenditures by farmer cooperatives in creased 140 percent. Average business research spending per cooperative went from $47,000 in 1967 to $114,000 in 1972. Mean while, technical research spending per association jumped from $146,000 to $272,000. About one-third of the cooperatives with volumes under $lOO,OOO conducted research, while nearly two-thirds of those with volumes of more- than $lOO,OOO did so. Of the 55 cooperatives repor ting research activities, 34 said they maintained formal business, technical, or combined business and technical research depa rtments. Tasty -Topic Broiled Beef Blade Steak with Crab Apples Drain and reserve syrup from 1 jar (18 ounces) crab apples. Combine syrup with % cup oil, 2 tablespoons vine gar, 2 teaspoons salt and V* teaspoon nutmeg in a flat util ity dish or plastic bag.
